Digital ID - The Marketable Human
Protection or Control? Since the beginning of time, we have sought to find solutions by navigating various governmental barriers and systems. However, as I mentioned earlier, I believe this is a time like no other. Why might you ask? Well, there are many reasons, but it all fundamentally comes down to the inability of the people to control the resources. It's imperative that we begin strengthening the way we govern data in relation to resources and our understanding in correlation to each other.
What do I mean by data in relation to resources? A perfect example is the American Credit System. Depending on how well you manage financial obligations, your score fluctuates on a scale, decreasing or increasing the number of opportunities available to. This model receives a lot of criticism because it's not a one-size-fits-all, but it still continues to operate under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Now, to see the UK implement a Digital ID model requiring it for people to work is problematic. This ideology of a centralization of data questions the ability to disperse resources equally. To what extent will this go as it continues to develop? Will it be able to detect things like race, educational background, or other factors that might inspire discrimination across all areas, even in past offenses? When I was running for office, one of the number one issues of homelessness was access to documents and things required to receive aid.
Though we do not see this issue in America entirely, we have already initiated a similar AR technology in airports that use facial recognition and a picture to identify you, and after doing some research, I found it's not required at all. However, it is strange to me that we all line up and, without even questioning it, comply with a marginal understanding of the technology and what they may be doing with it.
To progress this thought, there would be no way not to bring up the AI agent and the lifecycle of apps, or even cell phone hardware. Lately, I have been questioning how apps will be integrated into an AI agent model, which will be able to do everything your heart desires by reasoning first and then providing you with the output based on the access you give it and the LLMS. If we have an agent that can do everything, why would we need phones at all? I believe there will be a similar parallel to the Digital ID that's represented through a combination of AR technology and Biometric Technology already implemented in stores like Amazon.
Will there be laws and regulations around what resources can be available without giving up more and more of ourselves, who will protect those who are unwilling to comply, where will they work, and what will they do? Those are all questions that run through my mind as I pull back the curtain on AI Evolution.
